  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or Fork
  • Measuring Cups/Spoons
  • Potato Masher (optional)

Ingredients

For the Cobbler Filling

  • 4 cups of fresh or frozen strawberries Fresh strawberries are ideal but frozen berries work well.
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar Adjust based on the sweetness of the strawberries.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional but enhances flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch Optional: Helps thicken the filling.

For the Topping

  • 1 pie crust or biscuit topping Store-bought for convenience or homemade for a personal touch.
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted (or coconut oil for a dairy-free option)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour or gluten-free alternative
  • ½ cup brown sugar or coconut sugar for a healthier option
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 Pinch of salt
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon cinnamon and nutmeg Adds warmth to the dessert.

Instructions

Prep Your Ingredients:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Grease the 9x9-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  • If using fresh strawberries, hull and halve them. For frozen, toss them straight into the bowl—no thawing needed.

Mix the Filling:

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the strawberries, sugar, vanilla extract, and optional cornstarch.
  • Toss until the strawberries are evenly coated.

Prepare Your Topping:

  • For a pie crust, roll out and layer it over the prepared strawberries.
  • For a biscuit-like topping, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, melted butter, and optional spices until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle turbinado sugar on top for added crunch (optional).

Bake to Perfection:

  • Transfer the baking dish to the preheated oven.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the strawberry juices are bubbling.

Cool and Serve:

  • Allow the cobbler to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
  • Serve warm with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate treat.

Notes

The cobbler can be prepared in advance and baked fresh for the best texture and flavor.
Leftover cobbler can be covered and refrigerated for up to three days or frozen for later enjoyment.
